Lajos Kossuth was a Hungarian writer, journalist, politician, and an important figure in the early days of the Revolution of 1848. He was the founder of the first Hungarian newspaper, Hetek (The Times), and served as its chief editor. His other works include Political History of Hungary, the first comprehensive history of Hungary, published in 1852. He was elected to the first Hungarian parliament in 1848.
